Crinolines – Full length
Crinoline, full-length half slip, 35″, elastic waist, sheer inner lining, opaque
nylon taffeta outer layer
1.) elastic waist (30″ to 36″) or string-gathered (20″ to 54″)
2.) opaque outer sheath layer
3.) nylon crinoline, gathered and layered for fullness
4.) double fullness gathering of crinoline near bottom
5.) inner layer of sheer smooth nylon
This crinoline slip fastens with a zippered closure, flowing from the elastic
waistband (30″ to 36″) or from a draw-string waistband (20″ to 54″) and
just clears the floor (adjust effective length by fitting the waistband
to the height that works best with your outfit). It is very lightweight yet
fully supports heavy weight fabric skirts. A sheer inner layer assures
comfort and the opaque outer layer provides a smooth line for the skirt.
Appropriate for formal, western, or period wear (1840s – early 1900s).
Size is flexible. Fits most adults (choose the waistband that works best for you). Either style can be darted or pinned to fit extremely small waists.

Crinolines were originally structures of horsehair and cotton worn under a petticoat
or several petticoats, depending upon the year and style. But the word crinoline
has been adapted to describe any stiffened undergarment worn from the waist to
support a full or shaped skirt.
These crinoline half slips provide full circle support, holding even heavy fabrics
away from the legs and providing remarkably cool, comfortable ease of movement.
Since there is no rigid structure or hoop, sitting and kneeling can be done with
relative ease. Hoop supports can be added if desired for appropriate period costumes.
